With rapid increase of population and urbanization across the developing world, water scarcity has become a foremost issue Most of the water in Indus comes from glacial melt. The Western Himalayan glaciers act as a reservoir for the Indus basin, capturing snow and releasing it into the rivers hence replenishing the plains.
