WWF-Pakistan and Agility Pakistan conduct awareness campaign on safe drinking water

Lahore, WWF-Pakistan in collaboration with Agility Pakistan conducted an awareness campaign regarding safe drinking water, among the residents of Delhi Gate and its vicinity,in the Walled City of Lahore. The activity was held under the banner of the project Increasing the Supply and Access to Safe Drinking Water in Lahore, Pakistan, a joint initiative of WWF-Pakistan and Coca Cola Beverages Pakistan Limited (CCBPL).

At the start of the activity participants gathered at Sabeel Wali Gali, Delhi Gate and were briefed on the level of arsenic contamination in the water supply of the area. Participants were also informed about the importance of water filtration plants installed in Katra Neem Wali Gali, Delhi Gate and another at Masti Gate.

Later, a 52 member team from Agility, along with 15 members of the Delhi Gate community-based organisation and members of the Walled City Authority participated in a door-to-door campaign in the locality. All groups were assigned a member from WWF-Pakistan for the activity.

Participants raised awareness among the residents about the contamination of drinking water, its effects and the water filtration plant installed by WWF-Pakistan and CCBPL at Delhi Gate. Members of Agility Pakistan also distributed brochures among the locals.
