WWF-Pakistan starts work on installing another filtration plant in the Walled City of Lahore

Lahore: On 27 May 2016,the groundbreaking ceremony of water filtration plant in WachooWaligali, Walled city Lahore was organized. The ceremony was conducted by the mutual efforts of Walled City Lahore Authority (WCLA), WWF-Pakistan and local Community Based Organizations. The objective of the event was to highlight the project and efforts of WWF-Pakistan and WCLA to train the residents of Shahalam Market into water sensitive citizens. Speaking on the occasion, Haji Muhammad Hanif, Chairman local CBOthanked WCLA and WWF-Pakistan and said, “Clean drinking water was one of the major concerns of this area but now with the joint efforts of WCLA and WWF-Pakistan, we have better quality water to drink.” As the first brick of the construction work was laid, the locals rejoiced and congratulated each other for the good effort.

This plant is the tenth in the series of filtration plants being installed in Lahore by the joint effort of Coca Cola Beverages Pakistan Limited (CCBPL) and WWF-Pakistan, under the project, Increasing the Access and Supply of Safe Drinking Water in Lahore, Pakistan. Fifteen plants will be installed for the benefit of the communities through this CCBPL funded project.
