World Wide Fund for Nature-Pakistan and Government College University Lahore, Join Hands for a Living Planet

Lahore, 3rd January 2011 - World Wide Fund for Nature-Pakistan (WWF-Pakistan) and GC University Lahore’s Career Guidance & Placement Centre (CG&PC), started the new year with a commitment to work collectively for a  living planet.

The two organizations signed an MoU to promote environmental awareness and nature conservation amongst students. The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by Mr. Ali Hasan Habib, Director General of WWF – Pakistan and Mr. Prof. Khalid Aftab, Vice Chancellor, GC University Lahore.

WWF- Pakistan has been working to save the planets natural resources for the past four decades through its extensive environmental education programmes and truly believes that no change is possible without participation of the youth.

WWF-Pakistan has always put an emphasis on individual participation making a difference. That is why WWF-Pakistans Individual Membership Programme is so important. It enables individuals especially students to support WWF’s mission and help combat environmental challenges.  

GC University Lahore is one of the oldest educational institutions of liberal arts and sciences in the country with a commitment to the intellectual, cultural, social and economic development of the country. The University is actively involved in developing academic links and research collaboration with the national and international research institutes, universities and civil society organizations in order to raise GCU’s standards of education and research through mutual exchange of knowledge, research and experiences.

Through this MoU, GC University Lahore and WWF-Pakistan have mutually agreed upon establishing collaboration in the fields of environmental education, nature conservation awareness and other such projects while providing internship and volunteer work to GCU undergraduate and postgraduate students in the fields of Natural Sciences, Basic Sciences; Social Sciences and Humanities, as well as other areas of mutual interest.
