Gender Empowerment and Livelihoods
All projects undertaken as part of the Food and Agriculture Programme have a strong gender empowerment component which focuses on improving the livelihoods of rural women.
We are building economic resilience in rural women, improving their capacity in farming operations, food production and processing, etc.
Currently, more than 20,000 women are benefiting from technical assistance and acquiring skills required to generate income.
We are enhancing the economic resilience of rural women through building their skills on home-based initiatives such as beekeeping, off-season vegetable farming, poultry rearing, embroidery, kitchen gardening, establishment of micro-nurseries and sustainable husbandry practices. Women are also trained in basic financial skills, linkages with consumer markets, digital marketing, labour rights, etc.
