Machiara National Park-Protected Areas Management Project (PAMP)

Summary


The Overall objective of the proposed project is to contribute the capacity development for natural resource conservation in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJ&K), and to secure active and sustainable conservation of globally and nationally important habitat and wildlife species of Machiara National Park in AJ&K.

The area covers the ecological zones of alpine and sub-alpine pastures with moist and dry temperate high hill forests.

Objective

  1. Conserved and rehabilitated critical habitat and ecosystem in the core and buffer area of the park through integrated activities.
  2. Reduced park-people conflict by integrating local communities into park planning and management activities.
  3. Trained and upgrade the capacity of local staff in proper planning and management process.
  4. Controlled poaching, wildlife damage and other disruption.

Remarkable increase in the number of wildlife species.
