Livestock
diseases
Khan (2003) gives
the following diseases that afflict
livestock, specifically goats and
sheep, in the Northern Areas.
Table
. Livestock diseases in Northern
Areas
| Class

Types |
| Bacterial |
Abortion, metritis,
malignant oedema, mastitis,
lamb dysentery, tetanus, pasteurellosis,
enterotoxemia |
| Viral |
Foot and mouth,
pox |
| Parasitical |
Gid, liver fluke,

Bloat, foot rot,
pneumonia, goiter, bronchitis,
grass tetany, poisoning |
Another study
done in NACP sites by a consultant
to WWF-Pakistan reveals some data
for livestock diseases (Jazbi, undated).
But the report does not say in what
period this mortality rate has been
observed, i.e., whether these figures
are for one year or six months or
some other period. Plus the author
fails to mention what BQ and TY
stand for and he also does not mention
when this study was done. Therefore
this data is incomplete but is presented
here to show that a brief study
on livestock diseases was done at
some point, even though it was very
rudimentary.
