MD’s Message for Earth Hour 2011

Environmental conservation is a key focus area at Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL). As evident by the fact that 12 of our fields and facilities are certified for ISO 14001 Environment Management System, the company remains committed to limiting the ecological footprint of its operations by mitigation through the use of state-of-the-art technology, compliance with environmental laws and regulations and further improving existing practices.

Similarly, PPL has also partnered with organizations and global efforts to address pressing environmental issues and provide on-ground solutions. Our support of Earth Hour (EH) 2011 is a case in point. PPL endorsed EH in 2010, when it was initially launched in Pakistan by World Wide Fund for Nature.
Similarly, the company has decided to sponsor EH 2011. This year, we have also urged our staff to participate at a personal level by registering on the EH website and switching off lights and equipment in their homes on March 26 between 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.  

As a national company, PPL is striving to play its part in bridging the energy demand and supply gap. Still, it is necessary to conserve our natural resources by changing our lifestyles and adopting green practices in line with environmental imperatives.

Remember that conservation is essential for the future of our children which will doubtlessly be hinged on the state of the earth and its natural resources.
