WWF-Pakistan Earth Hour 2012 Ambassador Media Launch 2012

Karachi, Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at 11 30 am to 2 pm: As the largest environmental event in history, WWF-Pakistan officially inaugurated Earth Hour 2012 during a colourful event, at the Pearl Continental Hotel, Ballroom A, from 12 noon to 2pm. The Earth Hour 2012 is sponsored by Pebbles.Earth Hour Ambassadors 2012 include Pakistan tennis prodigy, Aisam-ul-Haq, Hockey Olympic star and record holder Sohail Abbas, Catwalk queen Nadia Hussain, heart throb sensation Fawad Afzal Khan, renowned actor and anchor Faysal Qureshi, singing sensation Shahzad Roy and legendary actress Bushra Ansari who officially endorsed EH 2012 at the event. 

The Minister for Environment, Sheikh Mohammad Afzal has official launched Sindh Province as EH 2012 province and Karachi has Earth Hour city. All the unnecessary light of official landmarks will be switched off during the Earth Hour.

Pakistan’s leading corporate giants and financial institutions including Hussain Dawood, Dawood Group, Khalid Mehmood, CEO Getz Pharma, PIA secretary, Shoaib Ahmed, KESC CEO Tabish Gohar, Representatives from Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), Barclays Bank, Unilever were also part of the EH 2012 inauguration ceremony and Chairman AKD. The principals of WWF-Pakistan Green Schools young Ambassadors also lit candles with the official ambassadors of WWF-Pakistan and many corporate partners of WWF-Pakistan.

The official Ambassadors at the event lit candles and officially inaugurated earth hour 2012 across Pakistan. After the candle lighting ceremony, Ambassadors Press Conference was held and the ambassadors expressed their concern and conveyed message to the nationals of Pakistan to participate in EH 2012 and join them in switching off all the unnecessary light and electrical appliances on the eve of March 31st 2012 from 8:30 pm to 9:30pm.
